A New Way to Ride with Divvy
We are thrilled to announce a pilot program in Chicago that introduces a brand-new form factor to our fleet: the throttle-driven ebike. We’ve taken what our ebike riders know and love and added a thumb throttle so that riders can get a boost–even if they don’t want to pedal.
Why a Throttle?
The addition of a thumb throttle provides a boost when you want it–like getting started easily at an intersection, cruising over bridge inclines, or pushing past wind, all without the need to pedal. This is great for anyone who wants an ebike ride without the effort, or for those looking for a little extra boost along the way. Most importantly, the throttle makes riding on a Divvy ebike more approachable, enabling more people to hop on and get moving.
For New Riders: Lowering the Barrier to Entry
For those new to Divvy, the throttle feature makes getting started easier than ever. It offers an intuitive, smooth way to start riding around the city without needing to push hard on the pedals right out of the gate. Riders can focus on enjoying the journey and feeling comfortable navigating Chicago.
]## For Daily Riders: Enhancing the Commute
If Divvy is already a part of your daily routine, the throttle unlocks new levels of efficiency and consistency. Use the quick boost to maintain momentum and flow seamlessly with traffic, or rely on the throttle to finish your ride without breaking a sweat. You'll arrive at your destination refreshed and on time.
What else?
The throttle ebike will still have all the features of the existing Divvy ebikes, including pedal-assist and the ability to dock at any Divvy station or lock to public bike racks in Chicago. Riders can pedal whenever they want to, and use the throttle whenever they don’t. Plus, a throttle ebike ride costs the same as a regular Divvy ebike ride.
How can I find one?
